🐻 Pub Dartboard Review - Electric Bear

13 August 2026

I recently had to be in Bath to collect a badminton racket from a friend who has now returned to the wilds of the North where they don’t have badminton. I used this as an excuse to play some darts in the Electric Bear tap room. I had previously met the manager of Electric Bear, Tom, in the Crown Tavern, where we played darts and drank Bass until close. Since then we’ve stayed in loose touch, playing darts in the Crown Tavern a few times, as well as a trip or two to Electric Bear, partially for the quiz, but mostly for the darts.

Electric Bear is mostly your standard tap room set-up, foldable beer tables, some stools knocking around, a rough-spun bar. However, it has one crucial difference: two dartboards. It was another sweltering day in the 2026 summer heatwave so I mostly stuck to Mixtape, a lager offering that went down very nicely. It was extra busy on my visit as it was the Dead Leg Running Club’s third birthday. Fortunately the overlap between runners and darts players is very slim so the dartboards were clear.

The main board

The boards are both Unicorn Eclipse Pro 2s, with the main board in excellent nick and the second board having some tired beds but still playable. Very handy for warming up while others play on the main board. The boards are bladed, with bounce outs not an issue for the most part. Tom was having some strong deflections, but I think these were more to do with his fresh integrated flight set-up than anything to do with the board.

mat oche with four throwing lines, the same as Industry

The oche was the standard mat set up, only for the main board. This is probably easiest for a functioning brewery, you can pick up the mat and tuck it away to avoid it getting snarled up in a forklift. I’m still not sure what all of the lines are for on the mat, although I discussed some possibilities in the Industry review, which has an identical mat.

Chalkboard scoring option

Scoring options were also good, with a large chalkboard just to the right of the main board. A suitable distance away that a third person could chalk a game without fear of wayward darts. However, I was keen to show off the orange lad darts app, so we scored on a mobile. All in all the set-up in Electric Bear is excellent, as you would expect from as keen a darts player as Tom. They also have a casual league going for the next few months, if you have any interest ask for Tom behind the bar.

Final rating: 8

The rating relates only to the dartboard set-up, not the pub as a whole.
